Nylon or Polyester: Choosing the Right Fabric

Fabric is the most important decision in a leggings order. We offer two main constructions.

Nylon and spandex (80/20) is the premium choice. It feels softer than polyester at the same weight, stretches in four directions and recovers its shape well. At 240 to 280 GSM it gives the buttery-soft feel that premium yoga and athleisure brands are known for.

Polyester and spandex (85/15) is the performance choice. It costs less, resists fading and abrasion, dries quickly and holds printed colors more vividly. It suits gym wear, fitness studios and brands that sell bold prints in volume.

We also make cotton and spandex leggings for everyday wear. Cotton feels soft and breathable for casual use, but it dries more slowly than nylon or polyester, so we recommend it for lifestyle and loungewear lines rather than training.

Leggings GSM Guide

GSM controls weight, opacity and compression. For most brands, 220 to 260 GSM is the right range: opaque in a squat, yet breathable and flexible.

Performance Features

High waistband: a wide waistband that stays flat and does not roll down during movement.
Tummy-control panel: a double-layer waistband that gives core support without restricting movement, popular in postpartum, lifestyle and yoga collections.
Scrunch seam: a gathered seam through the seat panel that gives a lifting, sculpting shape and is built into the pattern.
No front seam: the front panel is cut without a center seam for a smooth, flat finish.
Mesh panels: inserts along the thigh, calf or side seam that improve airflow and add contrast.
Pockets: a hidden waistband pocket for keys and cards, or a side-leg pocket for a phone.

Printing, Branding and Private Label Support

For a minimalist look, we apply clean heat-transfer logos at the waistband, hip or ankle. For printed collections, we produce all-over patterns and color blocking on polyester blends.

For these markets we recommend 260 to 300 GSM fabric with full-length cuts, a higher rise and a matte finish that stays opaque in movement.
